Replacing the Attic Insulation with ComfortTherm® in Avon by the Sea, NJ
A short while ago, this client in Avon by the Sea, NJ, had a raccoon infest his attic. Although our Little Rascals Nuisance Wildlife team safely removed and relocated the raccoon to a new, humane location, it had defecated all over the attic and contaminated the insulation. So, we were sent out to clean the area and install new insulation.
First, we will remove and dispose of all the contaminated insulation from the attic. Next, we disinfected the area and then installed ComfortTherm® insulation. ComfortTherm® insulation provides excellent temperature and noise control, and comes with a vapor-retarder for use in hot, humid climates.
Excluding Birds from the Attic in Rumson, NJ
After successfully and safely removing all the birds from this homeowners' attic in Rumson, NJ, we need to ensure they don't get back in. Since the gable vents the birds used to infest the building were damaged, we removed it, disinfected the area, and installed a louvered vent guard. This material is made out of heavy-duty galvannealed steel (which means it won't rust) and is customized to accommodate vents of all shapes and sizes. The home is now appropriately protected from birds, nuisance wildlife, and pests!
Encapsulating a Dirt Floor Crawl Space in Rumson, NJ
After moving into their new home in Rumson, NJ, the first thing these new homeowners wanted to do was encapsulate their dirt floor crawl space. So they gave our Crawl Space Division a call and we were sent out! Dirt floor crawl spaces attract and absorb moisture and once the dirt dries, it causes humidity levels to rise and can lead to mold and mildew issues (fortunately, there was no mold or mildew in the crawl space).
First, we removed all the debris and old insulation, leveled the ground for proper draining and installed drainage matting, which is a dimpled plastic mat that allows all excess moisture to work its way over to the sump pump. Afterward, we installed a vapor barrier. A vapor barrier is a heavy-duty, 20-mil 7-ply sandwich of high and low-density polyethylene with a polyester-cord reinforcement. By encapsulating the crawl space & installing the vapor barrier over the foundation walls and floor will create a continuous air and moisture barrier.
The vapor barrier is extremely durable and is treated with an antimicrobial to prevent mold. We also cleaned off all the beams in the crawl space and installed SilverGlo™ on the walls of the crawl space. SilverGlo™ is a waterproof foam insulation that seals the walls from outside moisture and humidity. Lastly, we installed a Sani-Dry Sedona commercial-grade dehumidifier. The Sedona directs the extracted water pulled out of the air directly into the sump pump and will control the humidity levels in the crawl space.
Yellow Jackets on the Balcony in Rumson, NJ
A property manager of an adult community in Rumson, NJ, called our office after one of the residents reported seeing a bunch of yellow jackets on her balcony. Once we arrived, we immediately spotted the yellow jackets nest poking out of the siding of the balcony!
For treatment, we injected a knockdown aerosol and a knockdown dusting application. Both of the treatments rapidly exterminate the yellow jackets. A short while later, we removed the nest, disposed of it, and applied a liquid residual to the area. This application will exterminate any yellow jackets that return to this area as well as prevent them from rebuilding another nest.
Replacing Old Insulation with Blown-In Cellulose in Rumson, NJ
After quite a long time dealing with an insufficient attic, this homeowner in Rumson, NJ, gave our Attic Systems division a call and wanted them to add blown-in cellulose insulation to her attic. As we inspected the attic, we noticed that the insulation was so old, that is was falling apart the moment we picked it up!
So the first thing we did was remove all the old insulation and properly dispose of it. Next, we air sealed all the gaps and cracks in the attic, which will eliminate air flow between the living space and the attic, improving energy efficiency. Afterward, we installed Tight Shell Can Light Covers over the recessed lights in the attic. These are made out of a fire resistant material and is specifically designed to stop unwanted air leakage through the recessed lights. We then placed several measuring sticks throughout the attic to ensure that the proper amount of R-value is added to the attic.
Lastly, we added over 12 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation throughout the attic. Adding TruSoft will fill the attic to its recommended insulation levels, in addition to maximizing home comfort for the owner. TruSoft also has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating, is resistant to mold and pests, is eco-friendly, and optimizes energy usage for year-round peace and savings!
