Birds Roosting and Pooping All Over Sports Fans in Piscataway, NJ

These nuisance birds were defecating all over the stairwell of this college football stadium in Piscataway, NJ, and the owner was sick and tired of it! So he called Bird Solutions by Cowleys for help!

First, we carefully removed all the nesting debris. Afterward, we disinfected the area with a solution that targets bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds. Bird mites are the main reason why extreme care is needed when removing a nest. Next, to properly exclude the birds from the stairwell, we installed bird netting. In order make sure the bird netting is secured, we used a stainless steel cable with net spikes and anchored it into the walls. We then locked the cables in place using copper ferrules and then installed turnbuckles which tighten the cable. We also used hog rings which secures the cable and connects it to the bird netting.

This is 3/4 inch, heavy duty polyethylene bird netting is used to humanely block the nuisance birds from entering any unwanted areas. It creates an impenetrable barrier that denies all nuisance birds the access to this area. Doing this removes the landing areas for the nuisance birds. They'll fly around, realize they can't enter, and move on. Another bonus is that the bird netting is almost invisible, unless you take a real close look at it. Now nuisance birds will no longer roost in the stairwell!

Woodpeckers Ruin the Fascia Boards the in Old Bridge, NJ

Woodpeckers were drilling into the fascia boards of this customers in Old Bridge, NJ, and causing some serious damage to the area. So much damage, that the entire fascia board was falling apart and needed to be replaced! So, with the owner's permission, we removed all the damaged materials and installed sturdy, pressure treated wood. Afterward, we installed sturdy metal flashing over the wood.

Once that was completed, in order to prevent the woodpeckers (and any other nuisance birds) from damaging or roosting along the area, we installed several Intimidators around the home. The Intimidator reflects the suns rays as the wind spins it around and gives off Ultra Violet "flashes." Since ultra violet is a color that birds can see but humans can not, the woodpeckers will relate the UV flashes as a threat and stay away. This is a humane and effective visual deterrent to prevent the woodpeckers from causing any further damage to the home.

Woodpeckers Cause Considerable Damage to Home in Freehold, NJ

This customer in Freehold, NJ had a big problem with several woodpeckers pecking into the siding of his home and causing some severe damage to his property! To solve this issue, we installed several Intimidator bird flashers around the exterior of the home.

The Intimidator reflects the suns rays as the wind spins it around and gives off Ultra Violet "flashes" (ultra violet is a color that birds can see but humans can not). The woodpeckers will relate the UV flashes as a danger and stay away. This is a humane and effective visual deterrent to prevent the woodpeckers from causing any further damage to the home.

Next, we stuffed each one of the holes made by the woodpecker with stainless steel mesh and then sealed them with waterproof adhesive. Lastly, we installed sturdy metal flashing over the damaged areas. Although we had offered to paint over the metal flashing so that it blends in with the color of his home, the owner declined as he was planning to repaint his siding any way at a later date.

Patching Up the Damage from Woodpeckers in Woodbridge, NJ

This homeowner in Woodbridge, NJ, had a little problem. A woodpecker was confusing the side of his home as a giant tree and was causing some considerable damage to it! So to resolve this, we installed several Intimidator bird flashers around the home.

Once that was completed, we stuffed each one of the openings made by the woodpecker with stainless steel mesh, sealed them with waterproof adhesive, and installed metal flashing over the holes. We had offered to paint over the metal flashing so that it blends in better with the home, but the owner was planning on repainting his property anyway and wanted to do that on his own.

Birds Nesting in the Gable Vent in Howell, NJ

These nuisance birds were nesting in this homeowners gable vent. Because the spaces in the gable vent were quite large, the birds just squeezed right in between the spaces and started nesting there. First, we carefully removed all the nesting debris out of the attic, which weighed over 20 lbs! Afterward, we then disinfected the area, and the entire attic, with a solution that targets bird mites. Bird mites are parasites that feed on the blood of birds. When birds leave their nests, the mites are left behind without a suitable host for their next blood meal. They will make their way into a home, and once inside they will take over, climbing all over your walls, ceilings, and beddings. To make matters worse, bird mites are tiny and semi-transparent, so they are extremely difficult to detect.  Bird mites are the main reason why extreme care is needed when removing a nest. The last thing you want to do is disrupt the mites that are crawling in and around the nesting material.

Once that was finished, in order to successfully exclude the birds from the home, we installed Pest-Blok over the gable vent. Pest-Blok doesn't restrict the airflow to the attic, undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process that makes it last longer, and guards the home against nuisance birds, bats, and all nuisance wildlife.
