Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Raccoons Break Into the Attic Through the Soffit Returns in Neptune, NJ
The raccoons didn't just break into the attic through one soffit return, but all four of them!
Damaged Pac Man
As we inspected the property we came across a damaged area of the soffit return (also called a pac man). We took a closer and found raccoon paw prints around the area as well as raccoon hair stuck in the opening.
Three Other Locations
We also found evidence of raccoons entering three other soffit returns. First, we installed a one-way device over the access points, temporarily enclosed them with hardware cloth, and setup several baited devices nearby. A one-way is a device that allows the raccoons to safely leave the area but is designed to prevent them from getting back in the same way! After a short while, we successfully retrieved all the raccoons!
Sturdy Exclusion
We then fashioned a piece of sturdy metal flashing and installed it over all the soffit returns.
No More Access
This will prevent any future raccoons, or any other nuisance wildlife, from infesting the home via the soffit returns.
