Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Squirrels Nesting in Soffit & Chewing the Fascia in Rumson, NJ
Squirrels decided to nest in this homeowners attic & chew through the roof shingles!
Chewed Up Access Points
We found several chewed-out areas on the roof. After completing our inspection, we determined that the squirrels were entering the home via the builders gap.
What is Builder's Gap?
A builders gap is the gap between the fascia board (where the gutter is hung) and roof decking. This gap is caused when roof decking is stopped too short and is not flush with the fascia. The gap is meant to help with airflow throughout the attic, but is also the perfect place for pests and nuisance wildlife to enter your home!
Setting Up
We also found a large amount of nesting debris from the squirrels in the soffit. We cleaned them out, installed a one way over the access points, and set up several baited devices nearby. The one-way is designed to allow the squirrels to safely leave the area, but prevent them from getting back in.
Installing Pest-Blok
To exclude the squirrels & any other nuisance wildlife we installed Pest-Blok. Pest-Blok doesn't restrict the airflow to the attic, undergoes a silicone-protected polyester coating process that makes it last longer, and guards the home against squirrels, pests, birds, and all other nuisance wildlife.
We'll Return
Once we safely retrieve the squirrels we will relocate them to a humane environment, disinfect the area, repair the damage fascia, and install Pest-Blok over the access points.
