Wildlife Removal Photo Album: When the Snow Melts, the Voles are Exposed in Oceanport, NJ
After the snow had melted, this homeowner in Oceanport, NJ found paths of dead grass and holes throughout her backyard that were caused by voles.
Voles Were the Culprit
You can see the shallow, snake-like tunnels throughout the backyard. These were caused by voles.
The Damage Voles Cause
Voles eat crops and also damage them when they build extensive runway and tunnel systems. Voles also can ruin lawns, golf courses, and ground covers. Although they pose no major public health hazards, voles are capable of carrying disease organisms, such as plague and tularemia.
Using the Shed as Safe House
Continuing my inspection, I discovered that the voles were hiding underneath the homeowners shed.
Multiple Entranceways, Multiple Devics
Voles construct tunnels with numerous burrows entrances. I set up several bait stations over and around each entranceway and then covered the devices to give the illusion that the voles are still underground, which will increase their chances to enter our devices.
Continually Check-In
I scheduled several follow-up visits to replenish the bait stations until the voles are no longer an issue at this property.
