Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Raccoon Living in a Chimney, Cowleys Safely Retrieves It in Freehold, NJ
In order to safely extract this raccoon harboring in this chimney in Freehold, NJ, we're utilizing a unique device.
A Unique Device
Since the raccoon was living inside the chimney, I decided to utilize our No-See 'Um chimney trap!
What Does the Chimney Trap Do
This innovative device slides right down into the chimney flue and is hidden from sight. The hinged flange at the bottom end of the device expands against the side of the chimney to funnel the raccoon into the device. To activate the trap, a raccoon climbs up the flue, is funneled through the passive door of the device, reaches the top where there is a fine piece of wire holding the locking bar in an elevated position. When the wire is dislodged the locking bar slides down, positively locking the door behind the raccoon.
Now to Cap the Chimney
Shortly after, we successfully retrieved the raccoon, relocated it to a new humane environment, and disinfected the chimney. Although the raccoon was safely removed, the chimney is still vulnerable to infestations from birds and nuisance wildlife. To solve this, we installed a chimney cap!
Heavy Duty Material
This heavy-duty material is constructed out of 24 Gauge Top and Flange, and 18 Gauge Galvanized Mesh! It is designed to prevent access to the chimney from all nuisance wildlife and birds.
