Wildlife Removal Photo Album: One Messy Bat Problem in Atlantic Highlands, NJ
While inspecting this home in Atlantic Highlands, NJ for bats, I discovered a massive pile-up if bat guano.
Buildup of Bat Guano
During my inspection, I came across a pile-up of bat guano, feces, near the front door. Bat guano carries the disease Histoplasmosis, which is transmitted when a person inhales the spores from the fungus that grows on the guano. This disease affects the lungs and can be life threatening, especially to those with a weakened immune system.
By the Garage Too
I found even more bat guano by the garage door.
The Access Points
I discovered the two main access points, which was in the soffit area above the garage and above the front door. I removed all the bat droppings, installed a bat cone, and temporarily sealed off the access areas with a filler that blocks their exits, forcing them to exit thru our strategically installed bat cones.
Bat Cone
The bat cones allow the bats to safely leave the attic but prevent them from getting back in. Because of the length of the bat cone and its cylindrical shape, the bats can't get back in because there is no way for them to land and scoot up through the tube. They will fly towards the rear end of the tube where their former access was and be blocked.
Once the Bats Are Removed
Once all the bats are safely removed from the attic, I'll return to remove the cones, disinfect the areas, and seal up all the gaps and access points permanently.
