Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Squirrels Chew Out Vent Pipe in Rumson, NJ
A homeowner in Rumson, NJ had squirrels roaming around his attic.
Attempted Break In
I inspected the roof and came across a chewed out area by the vent pipe. The squirrels didn't enter here, but they certainly tried too.
Second Attempt
I found another area that was chewed out by the squirrels. They actually entered the attic through an area in the soffit that was currently under repair. I temporarily sealed off the area with hardware cloth and set-up a one-way device.
Leaves, But Can't Get Back In
A one-way allows the squirrels to safely leave the attic, but prevents them from getting back in. I also placed several baited traps nearby. Soon after, the squirrels were safely removed from the attic and I relocated them to a new, humane location.
Repairing the Flange
The homeowner wanted to repair his soffit (since he already had the materials to do so), so I installed new vent pipe flashing.
Good As New
I installed a new rubber collar over the metal flashing and secured in place with a premium, waterproof adhesive.
