Wildlife Removal Photo Album: No Attic? Doesn't Matter for Raccoon in Manasquan, NJ
Just because you don't have an attic, doesn't mean raccoons aren't attracted to your home. This homeowner in Manasquan, NJ found that out the hard way.
Well, That Was Easy
As I inspected the roof, I immediately found the point of entry. As you can see, there is a hole in the soffit. I took a closer look and found raccoon hair and paw prints all over the area and the access point. Raccoons aren't the best at covering their tracks.
No Attic, No Problem
The homeowner has vaulted ceilings, meaning there's no attic. However, that doesn't stop the raccoon from getting out of the cold and setting up a new residence in your home. Completing my inspection, I determined that this was the main access point.
Positive We'll Get the Raccoon
I set up a nose cone over the main access point that leads right into a heavy-duty Comstock two-gated trap. This is known as a "positive set." Why is it called that? Because we are positive that we'll capture the raccoon.
The Nose Cone
Nose cones are an extension of the trap that'll guide the raccoon safely into the Comstock trap.
Baited Trap Nearby
I also placed a baited trap nearby as an added measure to entice the raccoon.
Once The Raccoon Is Caught
Once the raccoon is safely caught, we'll relocate it to a new, human location, disinfect the area, and seal up the soffit with new, sturdy metal flashing to prevent re-entry.
