Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Sanitizing and Deodorizing Soiled Attic Insulation in Freehold, NJ
After we removed several bats from this homeowners attic in Freehold, NJ our contracting team returned to remove and replace the soiled insulation.
Soiled from Bat Guano
This attic had bat guano throughout the insulation and needed to be removed.
Histoplasmosis
One of the major problems with bats infesting your home is the guano they leave behind. Histoplasmosis is a disease associated with bat guano and primarily affects the lungs and can be life threatening, particularly to those with a weakened immune system. It is transmitted when a person inhales spores from fungus that grows on bat droppings.
Remove, Sanitize, and then Insulate
We vacuumed, sanitized, and deodorized the entire attic from top to bottom. After that we added 12 inches of blown in cellulose insulation.
Benefits of Cellulose Insulation
Cellulose insulation creates a thermal barrier to help keep the home more comfortable and efficient, has a higher R-value than standard fiberglass batts, and is treated with non-toxic borate, creating an incredible resistance to mold and pests.
