Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Beaver Removal in North Brunswick, NJ
Recently, I went out on a service call for a brand new condominium association in North Brunswick, NJ. The property manager ran into a few issues while renovating due to a family of beavers.
Well That Wasn't Hard
As I began inspecting the property I came across the beavers lodge. As I inspected closer I noticed that the dam was blocking the culvert pipe, which is a drainage pipe that leads from one waterway to another waterway to prevent floods. This is causing all the rain to build up and flood the area.
Interesting Facts About Beavers and Their Dams
These dams are built to keep the beavers safe from predators and for accessing food sources quickly and safely. Beavers also build lodges where they reside and water canals which they use to float their food and building materials. Beavers are a family-oriented species, often living in colonies consisting of four to six individuals.
Beaver Removal 101
The most common problems associated with beaver dams are flooding and damage caused to trees. In order to safely remove the beavers from the land, we removed a portion of the dam and set-up a trap in front of that area. When the beaver returns to repair the damaged area, it enters our trap.
Special Permits for the Beaver Removal
When it comes to beaver removal, a special state and federal permit must be issued by the Fish and Game Administration. This permit contains vital information on what devices and methods are allowed to remove the beaver.
