Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Squirrels and Raccoons and Birds (Oh My) in Little Silver, NJ

A customer in Little Silver, NJ called Cowleys because she was hearing noises in her attic late at night. The homeowner was very frustrated because her previous pest control company told her she had just had squirrels, but the damage done to her attic was evident that she had more than just squirrels in her attic.

Found the Damage and Sealed it Off

We inspected her attic and her rooftop and discovered raccoon droppings in the attic. Raccoon feces is usually very large and will contain berries, fiber, or hair. I also noticed that the damage to the roof was done by something bigger than a squirrel. I temporarily sealed up the main access point with hardware cloth and set up a positive set. The set is called a positive set because it is designed to positively capture the raccoon.

Birds Flying Out of the Chimney

As we were setting up the positive set we noticed a bird flying out of the chimney stack.

Beginnings of a Nest

We peaked down and saw the beginnings of a birds nest. We sanitized and removed all of the debris.

Close Off the Chimney

We mentioned to the homeowner that her attic fans and chimney needed to be covered because both the birds and the raccoon could reenter through those areas.

Backup Baited Trap

We also set a baited trap on a rooftop next to the positive set.

Remove the Traps and Seal Up the Access Area

Once all the wildlife has been removed we fixed the soffit area and replaced it with trim coil. This will reinforce the roof and prevent any future intrusions.
