Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Flying Squirrel Lands in Homeowners Attic in Manasquan, NJ
A homeowner in Manasquan, NJ contacted Cowleys complaining about noises in his attic around midnight. We had a suspicion that the homeowner had a raccoon roaming through his attic since they are known for foraging late at night. Once we arrived and began our inspection, we discovered that the invasive wildlife wasn’t a raccoon, but flying squirrels.
Found Evidence of Flying Squirrels
Once we began inspecting the attic we found flying squirrel droppings on one of the support beams. Flying squirrel droppings look like little pellets and are linked to the spread of typhus, which causes headaches, fevers, and rashes.
Found More Presents
We found more droppings in the insulation.
Found the Main Access Point
Continuing our inpsection, we found two key openings where the flying squirrels were squeezing through. All they need is quarter of an inch opening and they can get their body through the smallest gap.
Seal it Up and Set Up a Cone
To stop the flying squirrels from entering the home we performed a full seal up around the house, leaving only one opening with a nose cone and one-way device. The one-way device allows the critter to leave the home safely and prevent them from getting back in. Once all the flying squirrels have been removed, we will seal up the main access point, sanitize the inside of the attic, and remove and replace the contaminated insulation.
