Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Raccoons Damage Brand New Gable Vent in Toms River, NJ
I went out on a service call for a homeowner in Toms River, NJ who was having a problem with raccoons in his home. When I arrived and conducted my initial interview with the client, he told me that his neighbor saw a raccoon in the middle of the afternoon going through back yards on the block, and climbed up on to our customer’s roof.
New Gable Vent Destroyed
This house in Toms River just had new siding installed, including the gable vents. Here, you can see that the raccoon made light work of the vinyl louvers.
Raccoon Paw prints
As I was inspecting the exterior of the home I found raccoon paw prints along the siding and drainage pipe.
Set Up a One-Way Device Over the Access Point
I set up a one-way device over the access point and a trap on the roof above it. A one-way device is a device that allows a critter to safely exit a home and prevents them from getting back in. The one-way has a strip of metallic tape on it as a marker. This will tell us if the raccoon has come out, as the tape will be broken and there will be fur stuck to it.
Another Trap
I also placed a baited trap above the garage where raccoon prints were seen showing where the raccoon is climbing to get on the roof. Once the raccoons are safely caught, the homeowner will hire a contractor to replace his gable vent.
