Recently, Cowleys was contacted by a Toms River, NJ, homeowner because of raccoons gaining entry into her attic. Once a determined raccoon gains access to the roof, they can often exploit weaknesses in the home’s structure to gain inside access.
Raccoon Entry Point
Here, the raccoons successfully located a weak spot in the roof and tore through it.
Tiny Claws Do Big Damages
And ripped through fascia board area, gaining access into the attic.
How Do They Get In There?!
Because a home's gutter system is secured to the fascia board, it is often a weakened area exploited by squirrels and raccoons along with the soffits underneath.
Step One: Minimize Entry Point
To capture the raccoons, we temporarily secured the hole.
Be Very, Very, Quiet
And installed a one-way device over the home. A "one-way" is a hinged door that allows the animals to exit the home but prevent their return. These devices are our go-to way to continue to allow the animals to leave the home but ensure that they don't come back inside.
Bigger, Better, Stronger!
Once all of the animals were out of the home, repairs were done professionally so that any raccoon would be unable to tear through that area of the home again.
Safe and Secured
Try getting through this!
