Wildlife Removal Photo Album: Rodent Problem and Removal in Kendall Park
This customer had already had a chipmunk population reduction service with us. On the final visit to pick up the traps, I noticed some new, very large tunnels in the yard near the end of the driveway. The driveway to the house is about 60 yds, and is lined, with various shrubs and pine trees. I was sure that these tunnels were made by moles.
Mole tunnels in Kendall Park, New Jersey
Moles are completely blind. They find their way around by feeling the air flow in the tunnels they make. The feeder tunnels are only used once, to find food and will sprout off of the travel tunnels. The travel tunnels will usually follow a fairly straight line along a landscape edge, such as railroad ties or pavers, etc. These are the tunnels you want to trap in.
Preparing the hole for mole traps in Kendall Park
After locating the travel tunnel, you carve out the dirt (about 8" -10") around the tunnel and clear out any debris like pebbles or small roots from inside the tunnel about another 4" on both sides.

We then placed two set traps inside each side of the tunnel facing opposite directions. This insures you will catch the mole coming from either direction. Also you can put a piece of a dowel or something right thru the tops of both traps to insure they don't move around too much, as shown in photo.
Marking where the traps are in Kendall Park, NJ
Afterward, refill the hole with the traps in it with the dirt you carved out, and mark the hole with orange marker paint which will make sure you will be able to locate your traps to check them.
