Successful squirrel exclusion in Lincroft, NJ
Challenge
One of the communities in Lincroft, NJ called regarding tenants seeing squirrels in a stairway. I went over to investigate. I found that the builders constructed a small shed like structure under the stairs. This allowed the squirrels to nest between the roof of this structure and the under side of the stairs.
Solution
I was able to block the sides and front and install a one way door device over a small hole I left and evict the squirrels without trapping. Since I saw no way for them to cause anymore damage, I didn't feel it was necessary to trap them. This is always a great option because it leaves the squirrels in their territory where they know how to find food and safety from predators. Once out I took the one-way exclusion down I sealed the remaining hole.
