Raccoons in Jackson, Attic
Challenge
I was called out to a home for noises in the attic. I started by asking the customer when they are hearing the noises, daytime, nighttime, early morning? This usually will give us some idea of what kind of animal we are dealing with. Armed with this information, and a flashlight (of course) I started my inspection in the attic.
This attic was very large so I started on the far left side and worked my way across. The first evidence I came across was some flex duct with footprints in the dust across the top. Then I came across some insulation that had been torn up, and finally I came across the area the animal was using as a bathroom. Can anyone guess what kind if animal this is?
Solution
The first thing we will do is to trap and remove the animal from the attic, then seal off the entry point. Then we will remove all the insulation in the attic and treat for fleas and mites. Then we use a Hepa vaccum, and finally we will sanitize and deodorize the entire attic. At this point, we blow in a fresh blanket of our T.A.P insulation (Thermal Acoustical Insulation). Our T.A.P insulation is an EPA-Labeled pest control insulation, treated with a pure Boric Acid.
Now the attic is clean, fresh, pest free, and most importantly healthy for the homeowners.
( The answer to the question is a Raccoon)
