Homeowner Thought it was Mice, but it Was Bats in Rumson, NJ
Challenge
A new customer in Rumson, NJ kept hearing scratching noises in her walls and thought she might have a rodent infestation, so she called our office for assistance. When we arrived, we began inspecting the attic and found an abundance of droppings throughout the area. The only thing is, these weren't rat or mice droppings, but bat droppings! Turns out, the homeowner had an infestation of bats in her attic! We informed the homeowner who immediately contacted our Nuisance Wildlife Division to safely and properly remove the bats from the home.
Solution
Once our Nuisance Wildlife Division arrived, they discovered that the bats were getting into the attic via a small opening in the soffit on the side of the home and the attic fans. So they temporarily sealed off this access point off and installed a bat cone over it. The bat cone will allow the bats to safely exit the home, but prevent them from getting back in. In order to prevent the bats from reinfesting the property, they installed vent guards over each static vent and attic fan.
This material is made out of heavy-duty 18 Gauge expanded Galvannealed steel mesh! This won't just prevent bats from gaining access into the home, but all nuisance wildlife and nuisance birds. Once all the bats are removed from the home, they will return, disinfect the area, and install sturdy metal flashing over the access point.
