Siding Chewed by Squirrels in Lanoka Harbor, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Lanoka Harbor, NJ kept hearing "running" noises in her attic throughout the day. So she called Little Rascals for help and we were set out to investigate. During our inspection, we noticed that a portion of the siding near the gutters had a chewed-out hole in it. We took a closer look and determined that this hole was created by squirrels.
Solution
After determining that the squirrels were using this area as an access point, we installed a multi-catch over the access point and temporarily enclosed it off with a hardware cloth. The multi-catch has one-way installed on each end, which allows the squirrels to safely enter the device, but prevents them from leaving. We also placed several baited devices nearby.
Once we safely retrieve all the squirrels, we will relocate them to a new humane environment, disinfect the attic area, and patch up the opening with sturdy metal flashing.
