Raccoon Invades Home in Holmdel, NJ
Challenge
A new customer in Holmdel, NJ, was hearing weird noises in his attic during the late hours of the evening. Our training and years of experience told us that he might have a raccoon harboring in his home, but a full inspection was needed to confirm. As we were inspecting the roof and attic we found raccoon paw prints on the downspout as well as hair stuck in the attic fan, confirming our suspicions that a raccoon had infested the home!
Solution
Since the raccoon was entering the home via the attic fan, we temporarily sealed off it and installed a one-way device. A one-way device allows the raccoon to safely leave the attic but is designed to prevent it from getting back in. We also placed several baited devices nearby. Raccoons are creatures of habit and will use the same path over and over again. A short while later, we successfully and safely retrieved the raccoon. We then disinfected the attic area and relocated the raccoon to a new, humane environment.
To prevent any future intrusions from raccoons, or any other nuisance wildlife, we installed an attic fan cover over the attic fan and static vents. This material is made out of heavy-duty 18 Gauge expanded Galvannealed steel mesh and will prevent all nuisance wildlife, bats, and nuisance birds from gaining access into the home via the static vents and attic fan.
