Squirrels Scare Homeowner in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, was moving some items around in his attic. As he was opening up one of the cardboard boxes, a squirrel jumped out and almost scared him to death! He immediately called Little Rascals and we were sent out to help.
As we inspected the roof, we found an area near the soffit that appeared to be chewed out. We took a closer look and found squirrels' hair stuck in the opening. This was how the squirrel was able to enter the home.
Solution
First, we temporarily enclosed the access point with hardware cloth and installed a positive set over the main access point. A positive set is made up of a nose cone, which will safely guide the squirrel into a two-gaited, heavy-duty device. We also set up several baited devices nearby.
Once we safely retrieve the squirrels we will relocate them to a humane location, disinfect the area, and installed sturdy, metal flashing over the access point to prevent future intrusions from all nuisance wildlife.
