Cleaning Up After Raccoons in Freehold, NJ
Challenge
Previously, we safely retrieved and relocated a raccoon in this homeowners attic in Freehold, NJ and now we're here to clean up their mess!
As we began inspecting the attic, we noticed several piles of raccoon feces throughout the attic and that the insulation was soaked with urine. Aside from the severe structural damage raccoons can inflict on a home, raccoon feces are full of diseases like Leptospirosis, Salmonella, and the most hazardous the Raccoon Roundworm (otherwise known as Baylisascaris procyonis).
Solution
With our Personal Protective Gear equipped, we carefully removed all the contaminated insulation. After removing the contained insulation, we then began disinfecting the entire attic from top to bottom. Although we do add blown-in cellulose insulation to attics, the homeowner was planning on renovating his entire attic and decided not to have us replace his insulation.
