After our Nuisance Wildlife team had safely and successfully removed all the raccoons from this homeowners attic in Allenhurst, NJ, we were sent out to clean up and reinsulate the attic.

Since almost all the insulation in the attic was contaminated from the raccoons urine and feces, we carefully removed it all and then disinfected the entire area. Next, we air sealed all the gaps and cracks in the attic. This will eliminate air flow between the living space and the attic, improving energy efficiency. Lastly, we installed over 12 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation, which will fill the attic to its recommended insulation levels. TruSoft insulation maximizes home comfort, has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating, is resistant to mold and pests, is eco-friendly, and optimizes energy usage for year-round peace and savings for the homeowner!

A short while ago, this customer in Ocean Township, NJ, had squirrels infest the attic of his home via the gable vent. We were able to successfully and safely remove them from the home and relocate them to a new humane location. Afterward, we disinfected the entire attic.

In order to prevent any future intrusions from squirrels, as well as any other nuisance wildlife, we installed a louvered vent guard over every single one of the gable vents. This material is made out of heavy-duty Galvannealed steel, which means it won't rust, and is customized to accommodate vents of all shapes and sizes.

Improving and Dirty Attic with new Blown-in Cellulose Insulation in Allenhurst, NJ

Recently, our Little Rascals nuisance wildlife team properly and safely removed a raccoon that had infested this homeowner's attic and turned it into a bathroom. At the request of the homeowner, our Attic Insulation team was sent out to remove all the contaminated insulation and add new blown-in cellulose insulation.

First, we carefully removed all the contaminated insulation, disposed of it, and then disinfected the entire attic. Once that was completed, we added over 10 inches of TruSoft blown-in cellulose insulation throughout the attic. Adding TruSoft will fill the attic to its recommended insulation levels, in addition to maximizing home comfort for the owner. TruSoft also has the highest Class-1 fire safety rating, is resistant to mold and pests, is eco-friendly, and optimizes energy usage for year-round peace and savings! After adding TruSoft, we installed several SilverGlo™ borders. This will prevent the insulation from overflowing onto the attic floor and makes the attic look more organized.

Yellow Jackets Attacking the Community in Allenhurst, NJ

A property manager of a condominium complex in Allenhurst, NJ, called our office after several of her residents got stung by yellow jackets near the front of the office. When we arrived and inspected the area, we noticed that the yellow jackets were coming and going out of a small hole in the ground near the curb. Turns out that there was an active in-ground yellow jackets nest here!

To exterminate the yellow jackets quickly, we liberally treated the burrow with a knockdown dusting application. A short while later, we dug up the nest, disposed of it, and then filled in the burrow.

Yellow Jackets Stinging the School Faculty in Allenhurst, NJ

We were sent out on a service call to a school in Allenhurst, NJ to handle an infestation of yellow jackets in one of the upper classrooms. As we inspected the area we noticed that the yellow jackets were coming from one of the drop ceiling lights! After discovering their nest we grabbed our ladder and inspected the exterior of the building. Good thing we did, because we discovered that the yellow jackets were entering the school via a small hole in the soffit.

We informed the principal who will have an approved contractor come out and repair the hole in the soffit. In the meantime, we injected a knockdown dusting product in the drop ceiling light in the classroom and in the opening in the soffit. This product will exterminate the yellow jackets almost immediately. Once they were eliminated we removed the yellow jackets nest, disposed of it, and applied a liquid residual application along the soffit area to neutralize any returning yellow jackets as well as prevent them from building another nest.

Mice removal and control in Allenhurst garage

Two Cowleys pest control technicians were dispatched to a home in Allenhurst to deal with a field mouse infestation in the backyard shed and perform a thorough clean-out to remove the pungent smell of mouse urine that permeated the shed and made it virtually unusable.

These field mice (deer mice) were having a “field day” in this shed. There were mouse droppings all over the floor and shelving of the entire shed. In order to clean out the shed and get a better sense of the extent of the infestation, we removed all of the lawn furniture. In the back of the shed, there was a folding chair that was heavily soiled. As we were removing the chair, a family of six mice ran out (a group or family of mice is called a mischief, and considering the havoc they cause, it’s a great name for them!) The mice had gathered material inside the shed and made a winter nest right in the bottom of the chair.

We proceeded to vacuum up all the mice droppings and sanitized the shed of the mouse urine and droppings. These deposits are a significant health hazard, especially when small microscopic particles containing aerosolized viruses become airborne in an enclosed area and are then inhaled. Deer mice are known carriers of Hantavirus, a life-threatening pulmonary disease, and white-footed deer mice often carry deer ticks infected with Lyme Disease. After deodorizing the shed to get rid of the noxious smells, we neatly put back all of the homeowner’s stored belongings that weren’t damaged by the mice.

Keeping field mice out of backyard sheds can be a challenge. It is important to keep your shed well sealed, plug any holes, and don’t leave attractants inside whether its a food source like stored grass seed or materials that they can use for nesting.
