Pests We Treat - Webbing Clothes Moths in Freehold, NJ
I was sent to an elderly residential customer who believed she was having a termite issue in her basement. Unfortunately she was unable to go down the stairs to see this moth-like insect that was appearing at the top of her stairs in the kitchen.
While inspecting the basement areas I found a pile of old throw rugs. I picked one up and a bunch of golden colored moths fell off the bottom. These were Webbing Clothes Moths, they feed on wool clothing, carpets, and rugs. The larvae stage of this insect does the most damage.
I put the infested rugs in a garbage bag and treated the remaining moths on the basement floor with a residual insecticide. I let the homeowner know that she had webbing clothes moths infesting some old throw rugs. I thanked her and brought the garbage bag out to her garbage cans.
