Pests We Treat Photo Album: Basement Loaded with Termites in Dunellen, NJ
Sill Plates Damaged by Termites
As we inspected the basement we found evident termite damage to the sill plates as well as active termite mud tubes throughout the basement. Mud tubes are made by the worker termites and protect them, and the other termites, from the exterior elements when traveling from their colony to a food source.
How We'll Reach the Termites
Since the termites live beneath ground level, to effectively target them, we drilled into the floor of the basement and around the entire exterior of the home.
Keep Them Space Apart
When drilling, we made sure to keep the drill holes at least 18 inches apart from one another. That way there is enough room for the treatment to spread out.
A Liquid Termiticide
Afterward, we injected a liquid temiticide into the drill holes. This treatment binds to the treated areas and creates a protective zone that the termites can't detect. As the termites go about their business, they'll come in contact with the termiticide and bring it back to their colony. They will then transfer the treatment throughout their nest. In short amount of time, the termites will be exterminated.
Sentricon®
Lastly, we installed several Sentricon® stations around the entire exterior of the home. When the termites come in contact with the Sentricon® bait system, they eat the cellulose material, unknowingly consuming an insect growth inhibitor.
Sharing the Food
The termites then go on to share this "food" with their colony members. As the termites continuously share the growth inhibitor, it takes over and prevents the termites from being able to molt. If they cannot molt, then the colony is eliminated. Now the home is fully protected from termites for many years.
