Pests We Treat Photo Album: Here Come the Digger Bees in Marlboro, NJ
A new customer in Marlboro, NJ called our office after finding a large number of ground bees across her backyard.
Digger Bees All Over the Backyard
As we examined the backyard, we came across multiple digger bee mounds throughout the area.
Not Aggressive Insects
Digger bees are solitary, non-social wasps and each hole is a separate, independent nest of digger bees. The females dig these half-inch to one-inch deep burrows to nest and raise young. Although the venom from a digger bee sting is strong enough to cause a severe allergic reaction in some people, they're non-aggressive and usually only sting if they are being stepped on.
A Key Indication
A key indication of a digger bee infestation is the multiple pencil-sized dirt mounds across a lawn.
Digger Bee Treatment
We're going to apply a granular bait across the yard and then soak every single digger bee mound with a liquid residual. Both of these treatments will rapidly exterminate the digger bees.
