Pests We Treat Photo Album: Rehab Property Has Mice in Allentown, NJ
A new customer purchased a foreclosed property in Allentown, NJ and had plans to flip the home and sell it. What was stopping him? The mice that were taking up residency in the home!
Siding Falling Down
As we began inspecting the property, we found multiple access points around the exterior of the home that the mice were using to enter the home.
Gaps Around the Crawl Space
The crawl space door was badly damaged and had large gaps above and underneath it as well as mice droppings near it.
Weep Holes
We also found mice droppings near several of the weep holes in the brick veneer. Weep holes are holes or gaps along the bottom of the brick veneer which allow water to drain out from the wall. These holes also serve to provide ventilation in the air gap behind the brick veneer. Ventilation can help to dry out the interior wall layers after a weather event.
Setting Up
We brought all of these issues to the owners attention and offered to install weep hole covers that will effectively prevent the mice from getting into the weep holes while still allowing air to filter in and water to seep out. The homeowner declined and mentioned that he will repair it himself.
Monitor the Mice Activity
In the meantime, we installed several interior and exterior rodent bait stations throughout the high infestation areas. Once we finished, we scheduled several follow up inspections to monitor the infestation and replenish the bait stations as needed.
