One Small Gap
While inspecting the bedroom, we noticed that the ants were trailing from the window. We went outside, followed their trail, and discovered odorous house ants trailing from the flower bed up into the structure.
Baiting the Ants
Odorous house ants are tiny, fast ants that emit a rotten coconut smell when they're crushed. For treatment, we applied a granular bait to the mulch bed, which the ants almost immediately picked up!
Liquid Treatment
We also treated the entire exterior with a liquid residual and, at the homeowners' request, along the baseboards, cracks, and crevices in the master bedroom.
Transfer Effect
The odorous house ants will bring either of these treatments back to their nest and transfer the treatments throughout their colony. This is known as the "transfer effect."
Ants Exterminated
A short while later, the ant colony will be eliminated.
