Lots of Larvae
This property was abandoned for quite some time, and as a result, almost every single floor drain was loaded with fruit flies. This one was filled with larvae.
Attracted to Rotten Produce
Fruit flies are attracted to rotting produce, which will ferment and produce alcohol which they will feed on.
Let's Get to Cleaning
First, we scrubbed out all floor drains and then treated them with a liquid product that removes the bad bacteria from the drains. The bad bacteria is the breeding ground for the fruit flies. Once that is eliminated, so are the fruit flies. We also cleaned up all the leftover debris that was left underneath the kitchen equipment.
More Treatment Needed
Next, we treated the drains with a bio-foam solution that eliminates all fly-attracting odors and then applied a fly bait product around the area to eliminate any active fruit flies.
Before We Left
Now that the fruit flies are eliminated, before we left, we spoke to the new owner and mentioned a few simple sanitation procedures to prevent any future fruit fly and other pest infestations.
