Pests We Treat Photo Album: Children's Treehouse Full of Carpenter Ants in Brick, NJ
All Over
As I began inspecting the backyard, I noticed a trail of carpenter ants crawling from the bottom of a tree, all the way up into the treehouse. I examined the inside of the treehouse and found a massive infestation of carpenter ants!
Carpenter Ant Damage
As you can see, they caused some severe damage!
Threaten the Structure
Carpenter ants are known to cause the most damage out of all the different species of ants that commonly infest structures. Typically black in color, these relentless insects will threaten the structural stability of buildings by excavating into the wood to build their nests.
Up in the Corner
After a thorough inspection, I located the main nest in the corner of the treeehouse.
Better Start Treating
I treated the main nest, and all the corners of the treehouse, with a knockdown aerosol application. This product flushes the carpenter ants out of hiding and rapidly eliminates them.
Bait and Liquid Treatments
Next, I treated the carpenter ants directly, the entire interior of the treehouse, the tree itself, and the exterior of the home with a non-repellent product. Lastly, I applied a granular bait across the landscape.
Thorough Carpenter Ant Treatment
The carpenter ants will transfer both of these treatments throughout their entire colony by grooming or feeding each other. In no time at all, the ants are eliminated. I advised the homeowner to have their children avoid the treehouse for a while until the carpenter ants are fully exterminated.
