Pests We Treat Photo Album: Mice Crawling Throughout Unfinished Basement in Freehold, NJ
A new customer in Freehold, NJ called our office after finding mice droppings in her kitchen.
Coming From Below
When I started inspecting, the homeowner mentioned that she kept hearing "scratching" noises below her dining room floor. So I examined the unfinished basement and discovered several mice tunnels throughout the insulation.
Common Behavior for Mice
Tunneling is a common behavior for mice, and a colony of mice will tunnel through your insulation in order to create a nest.
Multiple Mice Tunnels
As I thoroughly inspected the basement, I found several more tunnels that the mice dug up. They were climbing along the joists of the basement and digging through the insulation, which explains the scratching noise she heard.
Found the Access Point
As I examined the utility pipes, I found one exposed gap that the mice where using to enter the kitchen up above. I stuffed it with stainless steel mesh, which the mice will be unable to chew through, and sealed them with a waterproof, premium adhesive.
Mice Bait Stations
Next, I carefully cleaned up the droppings and placed several rodent bait stations in the basement, kitchen, and along the exterior of the home. I'll return for several follow-up visits to monitor the infestation and replenish the bait stations.
