Pests We Treat Photo Album: Severe Infestation of Indian Meal Moths Throughout Kitchen in Montgomery, NJ
While inspecting this home in Montgomery, NJ, I came across a heavy infestation of Indian Meal Moths in the kitchen.
Indian Meal Moth
As I was inspecting the kitchen, I noticed a few Indian Meal Moths flying around the pantries.
Their Larvae
When I opened up one of the pantries, several of them flew right at my face! I also found their larvae in the corners of several cabinets as well as the corners of the kitchen ceiling.
Pantry Pests
Also known as pantry pests, Indian meal moths are the most common pests to infest pantries and food storage facilities. They are attracted to light and feed on dried fruits, grains, seeds, nuts, chocolate, candies, birdseed, dog food, and powdered milk.
Treatment for Indian Meal Moths
For treatment, at the owner's request, I disposed of all of the infested items. Afterward, I used an aerosol treatment, that'll rapidly exterminate these pests, and applied it to every single harborage area throughout the home.
Pheromone traps
I also placed several pheromone traps to catch the flying adults. Lastly, I scheduled several follow-ups visits to guarantee that the Indian Meal Moths are eliminated.
