Pests We Treat Photo Album: A Congregation of Wasps in Brielle, NJ
A new customer of ours in Brielle, NJ called the office concerned that wasps were congregating on the base of a tree on her property.
First the Bald-Faced Hornets
When I arrived the customer led me to the tree that had numerous bald-faced hornets at the base of the tree. Apparently these stinging insects were after the bark and sap from the tree to build their nest.
Then the European Hornet
While I was doing my inspection, a lone European hornet showed up to get some of the bounty.
And Surprise Guest
There was even a yellow jacket that showed up to join the party!
One Treatment to Rid All Three
Although these wasps were foraging and not defending a nest, posing a minimal threat, the customer was not comfortable with the hornets so close to where the children played. I treated around the base of the tree with a residual product that will be transferred throughout the colony. This treatment will eliminate all 3 species of stinging insects.
