Pests We Treat Photo Album: Brown-Banded Cockroaches Infest Kitchen in New Brunswick, NJ

This homeowner in New Brunswick, NJ called our office after finding a cockroach in his kitchen.

Never a Good Sign

As soon as I began my inspection, I spotted a few cockroaches scurrying along the floor in the kitchen. If you ever see cockroaches out and about during the day, chances are, you have a large infestation of them in your home.

Brown-Banded Cockroaches

I examined a few of them crawling on the wall and was able to identify them as brown-banded cockroaches. Brown-banded cockroaches received their name from the two light brown bands they have across their bodies. These invasive species of cockroaches are rare to find in New Jersey and can reproduce at alarming rates.

After completing my inspection, I located the main colony underneath the dishwasher. Now it's treatment time!

Exterminating the Brown-Banded Cockroaches

First, I treated the entire kitchen and the home with a liquid growth regulator. This product prevents the cockroaches from reaching their reproductive stage, which drastically reduces their numbers.

Step Two

Next, I used an aerosol knockdown application. This product not only exterminates the cockroaches, but chases them out of hiding and into the growth regulator I applied earlier.

Step Three

Afterwards, I applied a residual dust product and set-up several glue monitor around the home. The glue monitors help me monitor the level of infestation as well as determine what additional treatment methods are needed.
