Pests We Treat Photo Album: How To Properly Treat for Bed Bugs in Asbury Park, NJ
A manager of our commercial accounts, an apartment complex in Asbury Park, NJ wanted us to inspect some of his apartments for bed bugs.
We Found Them
We began thoroughly inspecting several apartments and didn't find a single trace of bed bugs. However, as we inspected the last apartment, low and behold, we found a thriving colony of bed bugs in the mattress.
Entomology of Bed Bugs
Bed bugs get their name from their habit of feeding on humans while they sleep in their beds, although they don't just harbor in a bed. These pests like to hide in small cracks and crevices close to a human environment and can be found behind baseboards, wallpaper, upholstery, and furniture crevices. Bed bugs can even survive in alternative habitats, such as backpacks and under the seats in cars, buses, and trains.
Most Important Step
The first and most important step for a good bed bug treatment is to thoroughly inspect the residence from top to bottom. By locating all the harborage areas, this makes treatment a lot easier.
Vacuum and Dust
We grabbed our HEPA vacuums and were able to suck up all of the live bed bug activity. Next, we removed the outlet switch plates off of the wall and applied a dusting application into the void's. This application sucks the moisture out of the bed bugs waxy skin causing them to shrivel up and be eliminated.
Plenty of Liquids
Once everything has been vacuumed and the walls have been dusted, we perform a liquid application to all of the harborage sites where bed bugs can be found. We will return on a follow-up inspection to monitor the activity.
