Plethora of Ants
Upon inspection I saw a few ants crawling around the area of concern. As I continued my inspection to the kitchen, I found a plethora of odorous house ants.
Entomology of Odorous House Ants
Odorous house ants, also called sugar ants, are brown ants that range in size from one-sixteenth of an inch to one-eighth of an inch long. They are called odorous house ants because they emit a strong rotten, coconut smell when crushed.
Time to Flush
I used a residual flushing agent to flush out and eliminate any ants harboring in the cracks, crevices and baseboards in the kitchen and the neighboring two rooms.
Barrier
Afterwards, I applied a residual barrier throughout the entire home as well as along the exterior. Once they come in contact with this, they'll carry it back to the colony and transfer it among one another. In no time at all, the entire colony will be neutralized.
