All Over the Fruits and Veggies
Beginning my inspection, I located a large number of fruit flies around the produce in the restaurant.
Discarded Food in the Sink
I then inspected the kitchen and found an abundance of food debris in a catch-all pan. Fruit flies lay their eggs in any moist organic material - sometimes directly on the food, and sometimes in hidden places like drains or garbage cans where organic materials are collecting.
Time to Clean Up
Before applying any type of solution, I needed to remove the debris first. For any application to be effective, the gunk has to be cleaned out.
Loss of Profits
When it comes to fruit flies, sanitation is key to prevention. If poor sanitation exists, it can result in unsightly costs for a business. In this case, all the produce and vegetables had to be thrown away.
More Junk in the Drains
I treated all the drains in the restaurant with a solution that eliminates all the organic build-up, odors, and scum.
Fly Bait
Then, after cleaning and sanitizing the area thoroughly, I applied a residual fly bait under the sinks and pipes. After I finished cleaning, I talked to the manager about implementing a few simple sanitation procedures to prevent any future pest intrusions.
