Pests We Treat Photo Album: Bald-Faced Hornets on the High-Rise in Pine Beach, NJ
I was sent out on a service call for a new customer in Pine Beach, NJ to remove a hornet's nest from the garage area.
Located the Nest
I arrived at the customer's home to find out that the hornets had built their nest on a peak that was at least 26 feet above the driveway. As I examined closer I discovered a number of bald-faced hornets flying around the nest.
What do Bald-Faced Hornets Look Like
Bald-faced hornets have a white face with black markings all over it. They repeatedly sting anything that comes within close proximity to their nest.
A Daunting Challenge
I decided that the best course of action was to affix an aerosol application with a total release valve at the end of my extendable pole. The product being released will knock down the hornets inside the nest.
Plan in Action
Poking a hole in the nest with the pole, I was able to fill the nest with the product that was being applied. After the hornets remaining settled down, I used a scraper on the end of the pole to remove the remainder of the nest from the peak.
Clean and Safe
I then treated the soffit with a residual product for any foraging hornets returning to the nest. Finally, I used a hose to clean off the debris from the nest that landed in the driveway.
