Pests We Treat Photo Album: Excess Water Inside a Storage Bin Attracts Pavement Ants in Brielle, NJ
While I was performing a routine treatment service for one Cowleys customer in Brille, NJ I came across a group of pavement ants having a party.
All Over the Storage Bin
As I was treating the exterior of the home I found a large number of pavement ants trailing all over the storage bin.
Quick Facts About Pavement Ants
Pavement ants are a familiar sight during the summer months and nest under stones, along curbs or in cracks of pavement - hence the name pavement ants. They also nest indoors in walls and under floors. Pavement ants are about 1/8-1/16 of an inch long and range in color from brown to black.
Brining Water Back to Their Nest
I discovered that the pavement ant were trailing from the bordering shrubbery. Turns out, there was excess water inside the storage bin and the pavement ants were transporting it back to their nest.
Time to Treat Them
I removed all of the excess water and applied an ant gel bait inside the storage bin. Next, I applied a light liquid residual along the perimeter of the storage bin and along the entire exterior of the home. I also applied a granular bait along the shrubbery. Once the ants come in contact with any of these applications they will bring it back to their colony and share it with the queen and the other ants. In a short amount of time, the ants will be eliminated.
