Bald-faced hornets are very territorial of their nests and can be aggressive if they sense intruders nearby. They can sense the vibrations close to their nest, including footsteps and lawn movers.
Heavy Construction
Bald-faced hornets build paper nests in the area chosen by their queen, usually in trees, shrubs, on overhangs, utility poles, houses, sheds or other structures. Their nests can be as large as 14 inches in diameter and more than 24 inches in length.
Remove the Branch and the Nest
After treating the nest, I made sure all the hornets were taken care of and then cut the branch down where the nest was attached to.
Gone for Good
The nest was a little smaller than a basketball. After I cut down the branch, I properly disposed of the nest and cleaned up the area.
