Pests We Treat Photo Album: Pavement Ants Trailing in Allenhurst, NJ
During an inspection of a home for one of our Home Protection Plan clients in Allenhurst, NJ we found pavement ants.
Trailing Along a Brick Wall
We began inspecting and discovered that the pavement ants were trailing all along the brick window sill on the side the house. Pavement ants are brown to black ants in color and are approximately 1/8 to 1/16 an inch in size.
One Long Trail
We followed their trail all the way to the other side of the home, near the garbage cans.
Located Their Nest
We continued inspecting and found their nesting area in the mulch bed. Mulch provides moisture and shade for the pavement ants, so it's no surprise that this is where their main colony was.
Rapid Neutralization
We treated all areas where ants were trailing with a non-repellant residual application and applied a granular bait around the entire exterior of house. The pavement ants will carry both of these treatments back to the colony (where they feed and groom one another) and share them with their queen and the other ants. In a few weeks, the entire ant colony will be neutralized.
