Pests We Treat Photo Album: Mud Dauber Hiding in Brielle, NJ
A customer in Brielle, NJ called Cowley complaining about a wasp flying around her front door. After a thorough inspection, we identified the wasp as a mud dauber wasp.
Mud Dauber Flying Around
On the initial inspection, we could not find a nest but saw a mud dauber wasp fly by the front door. Mud daubers are about ½ to 1 inch long and have a long, slender segment between the thorax and abdomen.
Watching its Every Move
Watching the wasp closely, we saw it fly behind the front porch lamp.
Behind the Lamp Post
After watching the mud dauber fly behind the hanging light, we took a closer look and discovered that there was a gap between the wall and lamp where a mud dauber nest was.
Take it Down.
Now that we located the nest, we safely removed it and treated the nest and all the cracks and crevices with a knock-down dust application. This application not only eliminates the wasps but prevent them from coming back and rebuilding the nest.
