Pests We Treat Photo Album: Finding a Carpenter Ant Queen in Bradley Beach, NJ
Recently, we went out on a service call for a homeowner in Bradley Beach, NJ who was having an issue with carpenter ants in his basement. Carpenter ants are one of natures most aggressive wood destroyers. Unlike termites, carpenter ants do not eat wood, they only bore into wood to establish and/or enlarge their nest and which can cause a significant amount of damage to a property.
Heavy Amount of Frass
As we began inspecting the basement we found a large amount of frass near one of the walls. Frass is the waste product the carpenter ants produce from feeding on their normal diet and their wood-excavating activities. It is usually piled near nest sites.
Behind the Insulation Was...
We removed the insulation and found a massive carpenter ant infestation.
There's the Queen
We even found the queen ant nearby!
Remove the Queen
First, in order to halt reproduction, we removed the ant queen from the colony and then applied liquid non-repellent application.
Lights Out
The carpenter ants are going to spread this application throughout the entire colony. With the ant queen gone and the liquid application applied, in a short amount of time, it's lights out for the carpenter ants!
