Bed bug inspections, control, & removal in Aberdeen, NJ
Challenge
Bed bugs are the very definition of stealth. When not feeding, they can hide anywhere and everywhere in the smallest nooks and crannies from book bindings to picture frames. Most customers believe that coming into their home we are only going to focus around the bed. That’s not always the case. A critical part of any bed bug service is the initial inspection to determine the location of the bed bugs and the level of infestation. While they do like to stay as close to their food source as possible (our blood!), they often hide and lay eggs in areas that you would least expect.
The bed bug specialists at Cowleys thoroughly inspect of all areas of the home. While extra attention is given to those rooms known or likely to be infested, we also carefully inspect those rooms of the home not believed to have a problem. With bed bug inspections, everything is verified and nothing is assumed. We have to be sure that the entire home is properly treated to avoid a re-infestation.
For example, in this Aberdeen home, a dresser in a room that the homeowners believed were still free from bed bugs was infested (see photo). Although we were initially called out to treat two rooms of the home where there were confirmed bed bug sightings, we always follow the same “whole house” protocol to make sure that the infestation is fully resolved the first time. The homeowners were happy that our inspection went beyond what they asked us to do. From personal experience, I can tell you that as long as family members are walking around the house, these stealth hitchhikers often come along for the ride and relocate elsewhere. That is why it is so important to deal with bed bug infestations immediately. This is one type of infestation where every day counts and you just can’t wait.
Solution
Two technicians are scheduled for initial treatment of bed bugs. Initial treatment is started with a thorough re-inspection of all the rooms in the structure including rooms not thought to have any problems. While one technician is conducting the inspection, the other tech is thoroughly vacuuming all live bedbugs from the rooms with confirmed sighting using a HEPA vacuum. After the rooms and contents have been thoroughly vacuumed the first technician follows that with a commercial grade steamer to all crack and crevices of common hiding areas such as on bed frames and other bedroom and living room furniture.
Mattress and box-springs encasements are installed on the beds to prevent re-infestation. Bed leg monitors are then placed where applicable and a light chemical application to these areas.
A two week followup is then scheduled. During this visit we will conduct a thorough inspection and then we apply an additional chemical application to areas of concern.
In about two to three weeks we conduct a final inspection to make sure the structure is completely free of bed bugs, and reapply a light chemical application to any continuing areas of concern. Our 90 day "no bite no sight warranty" goes into effect after this final visit if the structure are cleared.
