Carpenter Bees Control in Porch Railing in Little Silver, NJ
Challenge
Cowley's was called to service a home in Little Silver for carpenter bees that had infested a porch railing. Carpenter bees are distinctive in both appearance and behavior. When you see large shiny black bees hovering around your house and perfectly bored holes, you can almost guarantee that these wood-boring home intruders are nesting in the wooden part of a structure such as a home or outdoor shed.
In this case, as you can see in the picture, the bees are boring holes under the deck railing of the front porch. A tell-tail sign that carpenter bees are busy digging holes is sawdust, commonly known as sass, And here you can see it under the railing. The female carpenter bee is the one that does the heavy lifting, building the burrow into the wood to lay her eggs. The male is the security detail, flying around to protect the queen from any predators or other males.
Solution
I treat these bee burrows with either a liquid chemical or dust, depending on particular area that is infested. Either application is highly effective and inevitably resolves a carpenter bee problem.
