Termites in Manasquan home
Challenge
A homeowner in Manasquan, NJ called because he suspected he had termites. He saw dirt and mud tubes on the cinder blocks.he noticed it was coming from the slab going up the cinder block and was concerned that it could be termites. He called us immediately to confirm. When we arrived we did a thorough inspection and found evidence of termites when we saw a shelter tube in the garage, sometimes called a mud tube. Termites build shelter tubes to gain access to wood, which is what they use for food. Shelter tubes are built out of soil and feces.
Solution
Termite infestations are serious, and can cause tremendous damage to homes. We want to first assess if there was any structural damage and address those issues. In this case, the infestation was caught early and there didn't appear to be any damage. We then focus on killing the termites and preventing them from coming back. We do this by drilling holes in the perimeter of the garage and the side walk along the patio or steps adjacent to the garage. We then dig a trench underneath the dirt or stones and treat with Termidor® , the leading liquid termiticide. We cover the trenches back up and cement over the holes. This puts a barrier that the termites must walk through, covering them with the Termidor® treatment. Termidor® utilizes an advanced non-repellent, or “undetectable,” liquid technology that termites cannot see, smell, taste, or avoid. Instead, they contact, ingest, and share Termidor®, completely unaware that doing so will inevitably kill them.
