Beer Tap Drains Full of Fruit Flies in Milltown, NJ

Challenge

A restaurant owner in Milltown, NJ called our office to handle a severe fruit fly issue near the bar area. As we inspected the area, we noticed that every single one of the drains below the bar taps were full of gunk, grease, and fruit fly larvae! We immediately told the owner and his staff. We also informed them that these areas must be cleaned on a regular basis in order to avoid fruit fly and other pest infestations.

Solution

First, we treated every single one of the drains with a liquid application. This is going to eliminate the bad bacteria inside the drains that the fruit flies breed in. Once that has been eliminated, so will the fruit flies. After that, we scrubbed out each one with our heavy-duty scrubbing brush.

Next, we applied a bio-foam solution in all the drains. This is going to remove all of the organic build-up, odors, and scum that's coating the drains. We then treated the severe problem areas with a fly bait to exterminate the adult fruit flies and then set up several pheromone fruit fly traps. The attractant in the traps will going to draw the fruit flies close and the bait inside the traps will neutralize them within moments of contact. Once we completed our treatment, we scheduled several return visits to apply any additional treatments until the fruit flies are no longer present in the restaurant.
