Smallest Opening Can Lead to a Mice Problem in Avon by the Sea, NJ
Challenge
During a winter inspection for a new Home Protection Plan customer in Avon by the Sea, NJ we noticed several utility wires coming from underneath the siding on the left side of the property. So we took a closer look at that area, and found several gaps were the wires were leading into the home.
Although many people may think that this isn't an issue, it actually is - as these openings are the perfect size for a mouse to infest a home. Due to their collapsible ribs, mice are able to squeeze through an opening the width of a pencil! This is one of the many reasons why an inspection of the exterior and interior of your home is so important!
Solution
After showing these areas to the homeowner, we stuffed each and every single opening with chew-proof stainless steel mesh. Mice hate the taste and feel of metal in their mouths. Once we were done, we sealed each gap with a premium, waterproof adhesive.
