Massive Carpenter Ant Nest Found in the Crawl Space in Fair Haven, NJ
Challenge
As we were inspecting the home of a new Home Protection Plan customer in Fair Haven, NJ, we uncovered a massive infestation of carpenter ants in the crawl space. Carpenter ants take their name from what they do best: chewing and tunneling through wood to create passageways (“galleries”) for building and expanding their nesting sites. There were hundreds of them! The wooden beams were so badly damaged, that they will need to be replaced!
Solution
To eliminate the carpenter ants, with the owners permission, we drilled into the wooden beams and injected a foaming residual application. Afterward, we treated the cracks, crevices, and baseboards of the crawl space and the entire exterior of the home with a liquid non-repellant. Once the worker carpenter ants come in contact with either of these products, they will bring them back to their nest and share the treatments with their reproductive queen and the other ants in the colony. A short while later, the carpenter ants are exterminated. Once they're gone, the owner is going to have a contractor come out and replace all the damaged wooden beams in the crawl space.
